It was a day of culture, community, and connection by the sea. In celebration of World Ocean Day, Formosa 2 teamed up with the Shuiwei Community Development Association to host the “Taiwanese Beach Seine Culture and Satoumi Sports Day.” The event invited local residents to immerse themselves in coastal traditions, raise awareness for marine conservation, and embrace the satoumi vision of people and nature thriving in harmony.

The Shuiwei community boasts a rich marine heritage and proudly preserves the precious tradition of "khan-koo" (Taiwanese beach seining). To pass this legacy down to the next generation, community elders were invited to demonstrate these traditional fishing techniques. This provided a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational learning, ensuring that their shared cultural heritage and spirit of sustainability live on.

In addition, the event featured lively, eco-friendly competitions, including a "net-pulling relay" and a "fish-carrying race." By transforming traditional fishing practices into fun, interactive games, the event brought the satoumi philosophy of "harmony between people and the sea" to life. Amid the laughter, the activities strengthened community bonds and deepened the residents' sense of local identity.

Formosa 2 and Shuiwei residents pulled the nets together to experience traditional beach seining, showing strong community unity.

Through this meaningful collaboration, Formosa 2 and the Shuiwei Community Association successfully promoted sustainable fisheries and marine conservation. By helping more people understand the co-existence inherent in satoumi, the event injected new energy into building a distinctive local satoumi brand for Miaoli's Shuiwei community.

Moving forward, Formosa 2 remains deeply committed to local engagement, working alongside with community partners to support cultural preservation, strengthen community connections, and advance environmental sustainability.
