This summer, we partnered with Ding-Pu Elementary School in Miaoli to host two immersive, hands-on learning activities that introduced students to the core concepts of marine sustainability and renewable energy. We firmly believe that building ocean literacy begins with the next generation. By embedding these values in education, we hope to help sustainability take root at the local level while supporting the SDGs.

The first session, led by Mr. Wen Chih-Jung, founder of DaMu Wen HandMake, welcomed 35 students and teachers for an interactive exploration of ocean science and marine technology.

Through engaging lectures, students learned about ocean pollution, marine ecosystems, and the importance of responsible stewardship. They put their knowledge into practice by designing and assembling their own miniature canoes —gaining hands-on insight into marine engineering and water safety.

This program directly supported SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 4: Quality Education, while also fostering teamwork and collaboration. As students worked together to complete their models, they practiced core sustainability values, learning to listen, cooperate, and support one another. As we believe: sustainability begins with working hand in hand.

The second session focused on climate change and renewable energy, guiding 30 students through the hands-on assembly of wind turbine models.

The curriculum integrated STEM education and climate resilience, encouraging students to reflect on their individual roles in addressing the climate crisis and inspiring them to become future changemakers committed to building a sustainable world.

These programs align with several SDGs, including SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 13: Climate Action, demonstrating our long-term commitment to local sustainability education and practical implementation.

We are honored to collaborate with our local partner, Ding-Pu Elementary School, to nurture the next generation with a strong foundation in environmental stewardship, ocean literacy, and energy awareness.
