The ocean is a cornerstone of sustainable development and a vital link to local culture and daily life. As part of our long-term commitment to marine education and community engagement, Formosa 2 partnered with local organization “Miaoli Local Culture Promotion Association” (Huansia 30) to develop “The Journey of Friendly Fishers”. Set against the backdrop of the Long Fong Fishing Port in Zhunan, Miaoli, this seafood education board game brings ocean conservation to life.
Blending local fishing heritage, Mazu folk traditions, and the core principles of “Choosing Well, Knowing the Ocean, Protecting the Ocean”, the game utilizes interactive cards and gamified learning. This approach allows children to naturally connect with marine culture while understanding the critical importance of sustainable fishing methods and resource conservation.

In collaboration with Haikou Elementary School and Tanwen Elementary School, we brought this initiative to 10 classes, engaging with over 300 students. Starting with local stories and real-life experiences, the activities guided children to explore the deep connections between the fishing industry, community life, and the marine environment, fostering a strong sense of local identity and values of respect for nature.

The program also integrated concepts of marine sustainability and renewable energy. By referencing the unique coastal characteristics of Zhunan and the "Taiwan Seafood Choice Guide", students learned how everyday choices — such as choosing sustainable seafood — can translate into actionable support for ocean conservation. This step-by-step learning design helps children build a comprehensive understanding of their hometown’s marine resources and future possibilities.
Looking ahead, Formosa 2 remains dedicated to deepening local partnerships and promoting educational sustainability initiatives. We are committed to supporting the next generation as they learn to understand, access, and care for the ocean, working together to build a more resilient and sustainable future for Taiwan.
